Pakistan vs England standings, as of October 23, 2026: Pakistan sit top of the ODI tri-series points table with 4 points from two wins, Sri Lanka are second with 2 points, and England are bottom with 0 points from two defeats. That is the position before the two sides meet again on Sunday, October 25, at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore — a game England must win to stay alive in the race for the October 31 final.

If you only want the table, it is right below. If you want to know how it got there, what each team needs from here, and how the two teams stack up against each other over the years, read on. One thing to be clear about first: when fans search for Pakistan national cricket team vs England cricket team standings right now, the table they mean is this tri-series table, not the ICC rankings. The ranking coverage we checked is all about this tri-series, so that is what this article covers, with the long-term head-to-head record kept in its own separate table.

Pakistan vs England standings: the tri-series points table

PosTeamPlayedWonLostPointsNet run rate
1Pakistan2204+1.240
2Sri Lanka2112-0.348
3England2020-0.892

Table as of October 23, 2026, after three league matches, per the updated points tables published by Cricket News and IPL.com, which agree on every figure. A win is worth two points and a no-result is worth one point each. The table above is the position before the October 25 Pakistan vs England game, which had not been played at the time of writing — so treat this as the starting point for Sunday, not the position after it.

How the table works, and what is left to play

This is a double round-robin tri-series between Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England. Each team plays four league games — the other two sides twice each — and the top two at the end of the league stage meet in the final on Saturday, October 31, at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The first three games were played in Rawalpindi; the rest of the series has moved to Lahore.

The October 25 game starts at 1:30 PM IST, with live telecast on Sony Sports Network and streaming on SonyLIV in India, per the match guides we checked. It is also Pakistan's Breast Cancer Awareness Day fixture, with the hosts set to wear specially designed pink kits and pink stumps in use, per the tri-series coverage.

How the standings got here: the three results so far

October 18, Rawalpindi — Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs. Pakistan made 305 and bowled Sri Lanka out for 268. Salman Ali Agha's 107, his fourth ODI hundred, built the total, and the bowlers closed it out.

October 20, Rawalpindi — Pakistan beat England by 87 runs. Pakistan piled up 302 for 9 and rolled England for 215. Hasan Nawaz struck 79 off 74, Arafat Minhas scored 59 and then took 6 for 40, and the seam attack of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf never let England settle. This is the win that put Pakistan clear at the top and left England winless.

October 22, Rawalpindi — Sri Lanka beat England by 2 wickets, chasing 430. England posted a huge 429 for 4, built on captain Harry Brook's 202, and still lost, as Sri Lanka chased it down at 430 for 8. That result is reported as the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history, and it is the reason Sri Lanka sit second while England, despite scoring 429, sit bottom. England's net run rate did improve slightly from that game, but at -0.892 it is still the worst of the three sides.

What each team needs from here

Pakistan — one more win all but seals it. A win over England on October 25 would take Pakistan to 6 points from three games, and with their net run rate of +1.240, that would all but book their place in the final, leaving England effectively out. Even a defeat would not end Pakistan's campaign, thanks to that net run rate cushion, as long as it is not a heavy one.

England — win on Sunday, and win big. An England victory on October 25 would blow the race wide open, with all three sides still in contention going into Pakistan vs Sri Lanka on October 27 and Sri Lanka vs England on October 29. But England's poor net run rate of -0.892 means they need not just wins but convincing ones — a narrow win over Pakistan would keep them alive without fixing the net run rate problem. Two wins from their last two games is the minimum for Harry Brook's side, and even that may come down to net run rate.

Sri Lanka — sitting second, watching Sunday closely. Sri Lanka have 2 points and a net run rate of -0.348. An England win on Sunday helps them, since it would hold Pakistan at 4 points, while a Pakistan win would push the hosts to 6 and leave Sri Lanka fighting England for the second final spot in their October 29 meeting.

If teams finish level on points, the tiebreakers apply in this order, per the tournament coverage: first the number of wins, then net run rate across all league games, then the head-to-head record (a 2-0 result settles it straight away), then net run rate in the matches between the tied teams only if the head-to-head is split 1-1, then bowling record across the group phase, and finally a drawing of lots or seeding priority if everything is still level.

Pakistan vs England head-to-head: the long-term record

The tri-series table is one thing; the long history between these two sides is another, and it points the other way. Keep the two tables separate — the head-to-head below covers all ODIs between the teams, not just this tri-series.

ODI head-to-headRecord
Matches played93
Won by England57
Won by Pakistan33
No result3
Most recent meetingOct 20, 2026 — Pakistan won by 87 runs, Rawalpindi

One honest note on that figure: before this tri-series, the record stood at 92 matches with England leading 57-32. Pakistan's 87-run win on October 20 made it 93 matches and 33 Pakistan wins, which is the figure used above. Some previews published before October 20 still show the older 92-match figure — that is why the two numbers both appear online.

England won four of the last five meetings before this tri-series, including the 2023 World Cup game at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, by 93 runs, and a 3-0 sweep of the 2021 series in England. Pakistan's last win before October 20 in that run was the 2019 World Cup game at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, by 14 runs. That history is also why England's current position — bottom of this table, winless — stands out: the team with the long-term edge over Pakistan is the one fighting for survival in Lahore.

Memorable ICC meetings between the sides include the 1992 World Cup final, which Pakistan won by 22 runs, the 2017 Champions Trophy semi-final, which Pakistan won by 8 wickets, and the 2019 World Cup group game at Trent Bridge, which Pakistan won by 14 runs.

Our verdict

On the table that matters right now, Pakistan are in control and England are in trouble. Pakistan have won both games, have the best net run rate by a distance, and have two of their last three league games at home in Lahore. England have the batting to post 429, as they showed against Sri Lanka, but their bowling has let them down twice, and their net run rate means close wins may not be enough.

Sunday's Pakistan vs England game is the pivot of the whole tri-series. A Pakistan win all but ends the qualification race for the hosts' rivals; an England win keeps all three teams alive and turns the October 29 Sri Lanka vs England game into a shootout for the second final spot. For fantasy and Dream11 players, the form names so far are Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Nawaz and Arafat Minhas for Pakistan, and Harry Brook for England — but check the confirmed XIs at the toss before locking a team, since this article is about the standings, not a predicted XI.
